Ron Paul’s story is a true American classic: a humble, everyday man who, through hard work, integrity, and unwavering courage of conviction, has become the inspiration for an entire revolution to RESTORE AMERICA NOW.

For over thirty years, Dr. Ron Paul has been espousing a very consistent, very well thought out position in favor of Liberty and the US Constitution as the bedrock foundation for all US political life. And for those same thirty-plus years, he has been ignored, marginalized, and ridiculed by the Establishment. Yet as the US (and indeed most of the Western world) is now undergoing as massive wealth transfer that will ultimately end in the destruction of the middle class, his prescient words of warning simply cannot be swept under the rug any longer. How could it be that Ron Paul’s was the ONLY voice in Washington who was predicting, with incredible accuracy, the current economic collapse? And perhaps an even better question is, why was no one listening?

The Role of Government

The reasons behind Ron Paul’s insightful foresight in the economic disaster are the same which give cause to this ultimate philosophical question: what is the proper role of government? Ron Paul’s answer is the same as the Founders’: protecting Liberty.

Economic Genius

Ron Paul is a physician by trade, but it is safe to say that it is his understanding of economics that drove him to become the unrivaled champion of Liberty in modern political life. At the core of this is the understanding that it is impossible to have prosperity and freedom without a sound monetary system. The Founders understood this all too well, and that is why they mandated in the Constitution that nothing but gold and silver coin shall be a tender in payment of debt.

Since 1971, when the last link between gold the dollar was ended by President Nixon, the US has existed on a pure paper, or fiat, monetary system. Since the the number of dollars which can be created out of thin air is now completely unlimited, there are no restraints left on the politicians and central bankers from issuing astronomical amounts of debt. Each time this happens, the value of the dollar deteriorates, hurting savers and those on fixed incomes, as prices continue to increase. It is this inflationary spiral into dollar collapse that will see the American middle class annihilated, unless someone like Ron Paul is elected to reverse course.

The Inseparability of Economic and Civil Liberties

Obviously Ron Paul recognizes the necessity of Liberty to the restoration of American prosperity. But this means Liberty across the board. Traditional conservatives maybe be very pro-Second Amendment. Traditional Liberals may be very pro-Fourth and Fifth Amendment. Only someone like Ron Paul recognizes that you cannot pick and choose which Rights and Liberties you think are important–they all are. Respect for others’ individual choices does NOT equal endorsement of their decisions; but the second you lose respect for one person’s Liberty and freedom of choice, that is the second that you lose respect for your own. Do you like being told what is “right” or “wrong” for you by strangers, and the best way–perhaps even the “only” way–for you to live your own life? Or do you prefer to accept responsibility for yourself and make your own decisions as to what is the best life for you as an individual? Without a universal respect for Liberty and the entire Bill of Rights, the seeds of the inevitable end to American prosperity and freedom will have been sewn.

Regaining Prosperity

The reason monetary policy becomes very important is that, if you understand monetary policy, you understand financial bubbles. If you understand financial bubbles, you understand the business cycle. If you understand the business cycle then you understand why there are recessions and depressions. If you understand that, then you understand why there are no jobs. And once you understand that, then you understand what you are supposed to do [to restore prosperity].

Horses have been known to perish by running back into a burning barn and staying there. They have been conditioned to believe that they are inherently safe simply by remaining within the confines of the structure whenever there is trouble. Humans are supposed to be brighter than animals. Will they finally have enough savvy to put together that, regardless of which party is in power, the same problems–of overspending, overtaxing, over-regulating, “over-warring”–simply get repackaged and resold to them over and over again? Will the American People ever wake up and realize that REAL change can never come through more of the status quo (regardless of party)?”

Only one candidate offers a legitimate departure from decades of failed policies. Despite being labeled all number of things from the Establishment–from “fringe” to “crazy” to “dangerous” to the whatever the latest slight du jour happens to be–the numbers of his supporters only continue to grow. They have recognized that the Constitution and Liberty are NOT “dangerous,” but are indeed the very source and life-blood of our prosperity. And they have recognized that only Ron Paul stands up to support the Constitution, to defend our inalienable Rights, and to RESTORE AMERICA NOW.
